Προς το παρόν γνωρίζουμε ότι το παιχνίδι θα είναι η συνέχεια του Tomb Raider Legend. H  Lara  θα πάει στο  Avalon για να βρει τη μαμά της η οποία  εξαφανίστηκε  μυστηριώδης. Στο παιχνίδι  θα δούμε πάλι  τον  Zip  και τον  Alister,  δεν αποκλείεται όμως  το γεγονός  ότι θα  ακούμε  την  ''μουρμούρα''  τους μόνο  στο  εκπαιδευτικό  level  του  Croft Manor.
Στα  διάφορα site  υπάρχουν  κάποιοι  που λένε   ότι έχουν   δει  ήδη  τα πρώτα  δοκιμαστικά  levels   του παιχνιδιού  για το PS3  ( λένε  μάλιστα  πώς έχουν παίξει  κιόλας )   και  είναι πάρα πολύ  ενθουσιασμένοι  από τα γραφικά  του TR8,  ενώ  η  Lara και  το animation  των  χαρακτήρων  δείχνουν υπέροχα .  Αυτήν τη στιγμή δεν υπάρχουν  ακόμα κάποιες εικόνες  η screens  από το παιχνίδι  παρά μόνο  μερικά scans  από το  περιοδικό  XboxWorld  και  concept art:

"According to a blog on TradeMork.com, Eidos has filed a trademark protection request for Tomb Raider Underworld, a name that could be revealed as the next video-game in the phenomenally successful Lara Croft series. Currently under the working title of Tomb Raider 8, the game is once again under the aegis of Crystal Dynamics.

According to TradeMork.com, Tomb Raider Underworld is "rumoured to be based around the Mayan Calendar. During five nameless and dangerous days at the end of the calendar called Wayeb', portals between the mortal realm and the Underworld dissolve, allowing ill-intending deities to causing disaster and mayhem."

Tomb Raider 8 has been tentatively pencilled in for a 2008 release and is expected to court Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and Windows PC. "
